The state economic program funds low-threshold digitalization projects in small businesses with under 50 employees at 40 percent: consulting with up to 8,000 euros in grants, implementation including hardware and software well above that. Applications are submitted online via WTSH, before the project starts.
Grant 40% for small businessesThe Hamburg Digital Check from IFB subsidizes qualified consulting on digitalization, AI and information security at 50 percent, up to a maximum of 7,500 euros, applications are possible until 16.11.2026. For implementation, the Hamburg-Kredit Digital has been available since August 2025 with a grant portion of up to 20,000 euros on top.
Grant up to EUR 7,500 for consultingOn 01.04.2026 Bremen launched the Digitaler Mittelstand KI program: up to 17,000 euros in grants per project for digitalizing business processes, AI, automation and cybersecurity, explicitly also for micro-businesses and sole proprietors. Alongside it, the Digitalisierung consulting grant continues at 50 percent up to 5,000 euros.

Businesses in Lower Saxony therefore rely on the federal level: BAFA consulting grants at 50 percent, 60 percent in the Lüneburg region, INQA coaching at 80 percent and the KfW ERP funding loan for digitalization for implementation.

The Hamburg Digital Check from IFB Hamburg subsidizes qualified consulting on digitalization, AI and information security at 50 percent, up to a maximum of 7,500 euros. Eligible are SMEs and freelancers with a business establishment in Hamburg, the application runs exclusively online via the IFB portal and must be submitted before the contract is concluded. According to the current status, applications are possible until 16.11.2026.
No, the Lower Saxony Digital Bonus expired on 31.12.2025 and a successor has not yet been announced. Businesses in Lower Saxony can however continue to use the federal programs: the BAFA consulting grant at 50 percent, even 60 percent in the Lüneburg region, INQA coaching at 80 percent, as well as the KfW ERP funding loan for digitalization for investments.
