Microsoft 365 & Azure · Cloud for SMEs

Getting started with Azure for your company: targeted building blocks instead of a cloud strategy.

Azure for mid-sized businesses means setting up only the building blocks an SME really needs, instead of a complete cloud strategy. Usually that is secure storage, a virtual server, document processing and clean user accounts. NordFlux sets up exactly these building blocks, with a server location in Germany or the EU and cost alerts from day one.

The problem

The server in the basement is getting older, and nobody wants to touch it.

In many mid-sized companies, half the business hangs on a single device that has been running for years. And every cloud provider answers that with a strategy presentation instead of a solution.

  • 01The server hardware is fully depreciated, spare parts are getting scarce, and a failure would paralyse operations for days.
  • 02The backup runs onto a USB drive or a NAS in the same room: in the event of fire, theft or ransomware, both are gone.
  • 03User accounts have grown over the years, former employees still have access, and nobody knows exactly who can access what.
  • 04You shy away from the cloud because you have heard of unpredictable monthly bills and opaque pricing models.
Use cases
01

Microsoft Azure in the SME: these building blocks solve real problems.

We do not sell a cloud strategy. We set up the Azure building block that solves your specific problem and leave the rest out.

01

Secure storage and backups

Your data sits encrypted in an Azure data centre in Germany or the EU, with automatic backups and versioning. A deleted file, or one encrypted by ransomware, is restored in minutes instead of hoping for a USB drive.

Impact Recovery instead of data loss
02

Virtual servers instead of hardware in the basement

Your ERP or industry-specific system moves to a virtual machine in Azure. No new server hardware, no server room, no emergency response when it fails: the machine can be backed up, scaled up and restarted in case of error.

Savings no new server hardware
03

Document processing with Azure AI Services

Invoices, delivery notes and forms are read automatically and handed over structured to your accounting or ERP. Azure Document Intelligence also recognises scans and photos, so manual retyping is no longer needed.

Savings 2–4 h per week
04

Entra ID: clean user accounts and access

Every employee gets exactly one account with multi-factor sign-in and the permissions they need. When someone leaves, you block all their access at once with a single click, instead of searching for passwords across five systems.

Impact Offboarding in minutes
05

Cost control with budgets and alerts

From the outset we set up budgets, cost alerts and reports per building block. You can see at any time what each service costs and get a warning before a budget is exceeded, not just on the monthly bill.

Solution paths

Azure consulting for mid-sized businesses means: the building blocks work together.

Azure rarely stands alone. Most of our clients already use Microsoft 365, and that is exactly where the Azure building blocks show their value.

Microsoft 365
Automation in your M365 environment

Teams, SharePoint and Outlook are already in place at most SMEs. Azure extends this environment with storage, servers and AI services, and automations connect the two into end-to-end workflows.

Power Platform
Apps and workflows on Azure data

With Power Apps and Power Automate we build small applications and approval workflows directly on your Azure data. That turns secure storage into a tool your team works with every day.

AI agents
Azure AI as the foundation for digital employees

The Azure AI Services that read your documents are the same foundation on which AI agents run. Whoever has the document building block is a short step away from a digital employee.

How we work

The 30-day model.

From the first conversation to a productive Azure building block in 30 days, at a fixed price instead of an open timesheet.

1

Free initial analysis

In 60 minutes we look at your current IT: servers, storage, backups, user accounts. At the end you know which building block solves the most pressing problem and whether Azure is even the right way to go.

2

Concept and fixed price

You receive a concept with the specific Azure services, a realistic estimate of the monthly operating costs and a fixed price for the setup. No line item you do not understand.

3

Setup and migration

We set up the environment, migrate data or servers and create budgets and cost alerts before the first user starts working. Your operations continue as normal in the meantime.

4

Handover and operation

You receive clear documentation and a briefing for the person who takes care of IT at your company. You stay in control, and on request we take over ongoing support.

Not sure yet where to start?

First orientation, then building blocks.

If you do not yet know whether Azure, automation or AI is the most pressing topic, a structured AI consultation helps. There we sort out your processes before a single service is even booked.

Do you have a server that nobody quite trusts any more?

In the free initial analysis we spend 60 minutes looking at your servers, backups and user accounts. No obligation, and at the end you know which Azure building block pays off for you and which does not.

Frequently asked questions
05

What mid-sized businesses often ask about Azure.

How much does Microsoft Azure cost for a small business?

Azure charges based on usage, so costs depend on which building blocks you use. Secure storage with backup typically costs an SME a low two-digit to three-digit euro amount per month, a virtual server more depending on size. Before you start, we give you an estimate of the monthly operating costs, and we set up budgets with cost alerts from day one.

Is our data stored in Germany with Azure, and is that GDPR-compliant?

Yes, with Azure you can set the data center region yourself, for example Germany or another EU country, and your data stays there. Microsoft provides data processing agreements under GDPR for this. We configure the region and encryption from the start so that your data protection officer can trace where what is stored.

Is it worth moving our old server to the cloud?

Usually when a new purchase is due or a failure would seriously affect operations. Instead of putting several thousand euros into new hardware, you pay monthly for a virtual machine and get backup and failover included. But there are also cases where the server should stay, for example with machine controls. We clarify exactly that honestly in the initial analysis.

Can we operate Azure without our own IT department?

Yes, if the environment is kept simple from the start. We only build the building blocks you need, document them clearly, and train the person who handles IT for you. For everything beyond that, we take over ongoing support on request, without you having to hire anyone.

How do we prevent a surprise bill with Azure?

With budgets and cost alerts that we set up before the first productive user. You set a monthly amount per building block and are notified before it's reached, not only on the invoice. In addition, during setup we check which services can be reserved or shut down at night, which often significantly lowers ongoing costs.
