The challenge

Builds and releases were manual work.

The von Eicken Business Central app had to be generated by hand and published to the middle tiers. That cost time and was hard to repeat reliably, because the path to the staging environment was manual every time.

  • Building and publishing BC components by hand
  • the path to staging error-prone and slow
  • no repeatable, documented release process
The solution
01

A pipeline instead of manual work.

Azure DevOps and PowerShell run the steps from build through publish to staging automatically.

1

Build

Azure DevOps builds the Business Central components automatically from the code.

2

Publish and staging

Successful builds are published automatically and moved into the staging environment.

3

PowerShell as control

Scripts connect the steps, traceable and adjustable.

NordFluxThe result

A repeatable path from code to a working component in staging.

Less manual work, fewer errors. von Eicken has since taken over the process themselves, ported the scripts and now uses the steps in GitHub. The solution belongs to the customer.

NordFlux set up a clean build pipeline for Business Central that we understood and carried on ourselves. Today it runs in GitHub at our company. Exactly how we wanted it.
